Like I said in my post that seems to have been glossed over, it is a requirement of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act that the sponsored person's evaluation be done in a visa office abroad closest to his/her residence (as per what it says in the approval letter we receive)

I hope this puts this silly rumour to rest

If someone wants to go through the entire Act, please be my guest Cheesy

Not a bad idea. The cost won't be much per person if there are a lot of people in the pool. lol
LOL. Better yet, who ever gets approved first, the forum gang has to pay for their spouse's arrival ticket haha.

Kman, are you sponsoring husband or wife? My application was received by CPC-M on March 16, 2012 and I got an email today, informing I AM APPROVED TO SPONSOR and the file is transferred to Islamabad. Ecas still does not show anything and I never received an AOR.

What a great news just before the month of RAMADAN. Inshallah, Allah (SWT) will give us the patience to wait and blesses us with good luck of speedy sponsorships. Keeping you all in my prayers Smiley

Update

Just received my sponsorship approval via email. File is transferred to ISB.

Once again:
App Filed: May 22, 2012
AOR Received: July 11, 2012
File Transfer Notification: July 17, 2012

The waiting game begins....

You are right... but not everything is done by the book... the biggest example is the processing time for sponsorship.. as of today, officially, they are still processing april 17, 2012 cases...

regardless, whatever the case maybe, let's hope it's for the better...

Yeah, but that has to be done by the book since it is written into law. There isn't any provision for processing times in the Act nor would it be feasible to have one.

Not trying to put anyone down or question their knowledge... just the fact that a few users have reported different cases... so we shouldn't neglect that... everyone's input is valuable... we are all in the same boat Smiley

Anyway, not sure if this article has been shared before, but it was posted in DAWN a few weeks ago. Pretty interesting and could be one possibility as to why the processing time is so delayed even though the # of cases have decreased as per the stats.

Ok this might clear up things to some extend. I was clearly told by "Call center agent" that my file is tranferred to Ottawa pilot and "If needed" they will tranfer it to Islamabad. well she was wrong i suppose as in the letter i just recieved, it says that

" application for permanent residence has been forwarded to a visa office abroad for further processing.
Should you need to submit additional information, you may contact visa office by email, fax or in writing"

Islamabad
High Commission of Canada
......

The visa office is selected based on the home address......

the letter came from CPP-Ottawa, and the funny thing is that at the end it says

Sincerely,
Officer JD-CPPO
Case Processing Centre Mississauga

Thanks!

Thanks for the clarification... that makes sense... I recently glanced over their news release I didn't see anything about a pilot project to speed up spousal immigration.
