yea good luck with a nikkah case..and update us if you get the visa..  Cheesy
Not anymore.. Even Nikkah only cases go through a hard time to get Visa. If you decided to do Nikkah in Pakistan, make sure you do all the wedding festivities to make it look like a complete wedding. Otherwise there are a few cases who are waiting for quite a long time.

you dont really need a lawyer for any immigration form unless you have a shady past or have done things that you shouldnt have. husband/wife sponsorship is pretty straight forward. for the life of me i cant understand those who dish out thousands of $ for work they could have done themselves!  Shocked

Hi all,
I am new member of this group. my husband is about to file may case this week inshallah...from reading all time line of 2010-2011, and this one i think process is fast when you apply for your wife but if its with kids its bit slow..is it true,, because i have son who is 2.5 year old.
any suggestion before applying please let me know because we are applying without lawyer. first we decided to go with lawyer we have given all documents to her but she was involved in some miss representation so some one filled case against her in canada so now we decided to do it by our self.

wish me a luck

That is not true at all these aren't the only reason for using a lawyer, don't be so condescending towards people who have opted to use a lawyer! Not cool...

I used a lawyer and the reason why I used one was because I was very busy and this stuff takes a lot of time and effort, I didn't want to make a mistake anywhere because I don't want them coming back to me asking for further information, which happens to more than a few people. Plus it alleviates a huge burden off your shoulders. I am very satisfied with my application and supporting documents which my lawyer prepared.

To each his own, let's not “thopafy” our ideas on others...

Folks in Toronto,

Could you recommend me a travel agency? Preferably one I can contact via email.

Thanks

that is what you think! anyway not trying to be condescending but even CIC makes it clear you dont need a lawyer to fill these forms out! Plus over the years I have helped many individuals fill out their CIC forms and I have nothing to do with law! It's common sense and not complicated at all. Of course time can be a factor- but it is the same with other areas of life. you got to put in time and effort to make sure things are right  Grin

I just spoke with an agent at CPC-M. They confirmed that my application was received on March 16, 2012. The agent told me that in a couple of weeks I should be getting an email for "Acknowledgement Letter" which confirms that they have received my application. Next it can take upto 3 months for them to process my application to approve me as a sponsor and I should get "Approval Letter" via email no later than October stating that my file has been transferred to Islamabad. From then on, it will take anywhere upto 26 months for processing phase 2.

This is not really a very encouraging conversation!! Any thoughts. I am angry, frustrated, depressed and just leaving everything upto Allah. Whatever is meant to be will be, Inshallah!!!

I think the agent just prepared me for the worst case scenario!!!

It doesnt make sense why it is taking so long. They are supposed to make a decision in around 3 months from the date they receive your application.
In this case, they will send you a decision letter by October? thats 6 months since you submitted your application. Why is it taking twice the time for you? you should call and ask them whats holding things up sister.

They said that they have not even opened my file. This is the general timeline for everyone. Once they process my application, they will let me know if anything is amiss.

I am sure the person you spoke with would have been hired recently and he didnt know the clue. its a call center and you can expect any kind of response from them. If you call them again you might get a different answer this time. My file was delivered on April 03 (the only way i can tell if its delivered is by looking at canadapost website). i called them today and spoke to a lady. she took my information and then she says that we havent opened up my case yet and i should wait another week or two to get AOR.

Thanks!

Yea, I figured that might be the case. Jitna lamba khench ker wo timeline bata sakti thi, usne batay hai. Khair. I will try calling again tomorrow, hoping I don't talk to the same girl again. But I do want to hear form the rest of the people on this forum regarding the conversation I just had.

For pakistan, the timelines are very long as compared to other countries like india or china, may be because they are very cautious with them due to recent global developments
