Thanks. from the application submission time (the last date for any sort of proofs {email/photos/chats/call logs, etc}) to the date of your file being opened for initial view (about 9-12 months avg as it is now a days) you should pick a time frame that's just short of that initial review of your file... so say you sent in your file to cic-miss in MAR '12 and your file got transferred in June '12... it will be most likely opened for review in Mar/Apr '13, so you want to voluntarily send them additional proof to show that your marriage is still on going and genuine... hence sometime in January you should collect all the additional proof from MAR '12 - JAN '13 along with a voluntarily RE-PCC and all the applicant's forums to be updated minus the questionnaire (that should remain same as it was about how you initially met and got married) along with a cover letter that again describes your on going relationship. so to sum it up.... send... - cover letter entailing and detailing your on going relationship and what you are updating them with and the fact that you are sending this stuff voluntarily so that this helps expediting your case and saves some time (in a NICE tone). = also you could write in cover letter that for eg. wife will remain housewife... etc... - APPLICANT's forms ONLY + supplementary forms (send these even if nothing really got updated + they are mainly looking here for if any international travel occurred or not, if your spouse changed works, education, basically their history to be updated for the time in between... - relationship proofs... this is photos, emails, chats, call logs, social media transactions, banking/financial, etc... from the day you sent your application package to the current date... - updated police clearance certificate... - any thing case specific that may help your case * you cannot do remed voluntarily, only if and when requested by them (as they send you a form for it)... if you are lucky and covered all your bases (sent all and complete info), they could 1. ask you again for additional info as they see fit --> very low chances but you never know 1a. put you in interview queue --> this will only happen if they suspect your marriage is not genuine or the background checks don't look clean... the case is likely to go the full distance 26 months... 2. send you a remed --> only if they open your file after 15 months of your original medical date 3. send you a ppr --> what should happen if you sent everything and correctly 4. send you a remed + ppr --> not a bad scenario either... not trying to scare you... just putting things in perspective here hope it helped...

Quick question for the forum gang!
I send out a undertaking/CSQ form (last week) for my spouse due to the fact that I'm a Quebec resident. My question is how long do they take to process it? and that do they send the form (certificate) to me in canada? or my wife in Pakistan?

quebec specific questions are best to be asked by the call center... as i dont think we have any one here applying from quebec... but any correspondence in stage 2 will be sent to whomever you set it to, your spouse, or if you set it to yourself than you or your lawyer...

All documents from Quebec will be sent to you. It can take anywhere from 2 to 4weeks to get CSQ. Mine took 3.

So I got a 2nd response from my MP, and this is what she said. The weird thing is the dates are all wrong; according to the initial letter of approval I received it stated that the file has transferred in March and not this lol. Also when I log into ecase it says the application was received on January 5th and she is saying 15th.
CIC has contacted our office with an update on your wife's file.
The application was received in Mississauga on January 15th 2012 and in Islamabad in May 2012. At this time, there are no further documents being requested. As you are aware the processing time for such an application is 26 months.
Please check back with our office in 12 months and we would happy to follow up with CIC for another update and to ensure your wife's application is being processed properly and as quickly as possible.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to send this request to us. Please do not hesitate to contact us in future should you have any further questions or concerns.
Any thoughts?

thank you so much hogaishaadi for your response!
My processing started in Aug, 2011. I left for pakistan towards the end of October 2011.. and stay there until March 2012. during that period my husband came to visit me in pak.. as he lives in Saudi Arabia.. March - June 2012 i lived in Saudi Arabia.. and i just came back..
i have sent them confirmation of my flight booking for coming back to canada and all
I have been out of the Canada for about 8 months now.. i have sent proof of me coming back and resuming my work as i was on leave for a year (only took 8 months off.) i stayed with my husband for about 3 months and the rest i was just with family in pak
do you think that would be an issue? i should be allowed to leave the country for as long as i like cuz i am a citizen
am i correct?

Not really. You can leave the Country for as long as you like but that might raise alarm bells at the Visa Office. Why should your husband be issued a visa to settle in Canada when you the sponsor is not even living in Canada! The Harper Govt is becoming increasingly intolerant with these sort of marraiges. I kind of agree with them. I have heard too many people say that all they are interested is in the "canadian passport" and after that they will go live in the middle east or wherever. That is BS. I agree with Jason Kenney on this one- people who are just after the citizenship do not deserve to have it. Being a Canadian is a privilege - dont abuse it. thank you so much hogaishaadi for your response!

If u r a citizen, u can do as u please.... I would though recommend travel for now that is only limited to ur husband only to avoid any, if any, doubt, just explain that u went to meet ur husband and ur family, unfortunately ur husband couldnt take same length of time off as you...etc... Although u r safe in sense that u came back and r working again, as long as u can show strong ties to Canada, it doesnt matter how long u stay there...u r a citizen, not pr holder...

Processing time for step was updated on June 27 but no change in the date itself. They are still working on Feb 29 applications. I guess the best thing is to stop checking daily. The best thing is to check your email or your mailbox. It's been 104 days for me, since the time they received my application.
