brother may Allah bless ur mother with good health

dont do anything like that, CHC will not do anything if ur parents are sick

they will expedite ur case if the spouse was in trouble other wise its a waste of time

You might be right; but in my opinion nothing is a waste of time my friend; I will try everything and when nothing work I will sit in this same chair and be satisfied that I tried. I don't think they will do anything like delay my case becasue I told them my sob story the worst that will probably happen is they will say "whatever dude we get too many of these everyday, get in the line" not harm no foul.

But I appreciate your advise, and thank you sir.

It is unfortunate that the Mayor is so standoffish. Pisses me off...
You see, if a certain action does not merit political points, they are not worth doing.
If the mayors own son married someone in Pakistan, i can gaurantee that the spouse would be in Canada by the end of the month.
Kher, my rants aside, good on you for trying my friend...

Pakistani attitude is -
"sit at home, eat paratha, maybe some gulab jaman, some gol gappay, and wait...." according to my immigration lawyer lolz
"agar indians ke saath yeh horaha hota, unho ne asmaan sar pe utha lena tha... aur 26 months se 6 months tak le aana tha"

And its true, I see this attitude of acceptance prevalent amongst all Pakistani immigrants, we collectively have a low self esteem/confidence problem.. On some bizarre subconscious level, we think that we deserve this discrimination...

So I emailed my MP because I wanted to see if my wife's could be expediated since my mother is quite ill and she needs a female's help... I explained the whole story to the Mayor of Milton and MP, I got a response from the Mayor the next day saying (well I am going to parapharase here) "we dont mess with the federal stuff, so take your questions else where" lol. I also got an email from my MP stating the following:

Thank you so much for taking the time to pass on this request for assistance with your wife's spousal class application.

Our office would be happy to follow up with CIC on the application and provide you with an update on her file, however we cannot expedite files. We will follow up with you shortly once we receive information on her file.

Once again, thanks for taking the time to send this to us. Should you have any further questions, comments or suggestions in the future, please don't hesitate to contact us.

So lets see if they ever get back to me on this, I am interested to see what she finds out.

Just wanted to share my little "adventure"

i am just glad i am in the same class (time frame) with guys like heybuddy and theshaikh (and khalifah, although he is a year senior to us and almost done) it will be fun times ahead dostoo... i am just busy these days more towards scouting a house for your bhabhi... at my age (25-30) its not easy being self made and buying all things on your own... budget is so tight, but the house prices are so inflated, just digging hard to find that diamond in the rough... lets see how things unfold Smiley

Thanks bro, and you are absolutely right most of us Pakistanis have a relaxed perspective when it comes to things like these. I personally think its due to laziness, dont get me wrong I am not saying all of Pakistanis are like this but if you look at our community from a critical perspective its always quite prevalent how we just don't want to do anything. I like you analogy about sitting around eating parathay and gulab jaman.

I believe if all contacted our respective MPs and Mayors as soon as our application has began they will eventually do something about it, maybe not for you and I but for the person who might apply in a year's time.

I am also going to go talk to my councilor in a couple of days and explain my concerns; maybe write a letter to them stating how it is their responsibility to help me and other residents of our town.

Anyways we will see how it goes, lets give it our best and the rest up to Allah.

Same here, good to have some good company.
Housing market is a nightmare right now, especially near Downtown.
I work in the financial district, so it makes sense for me to buy a condo around here, but I cant justify the ridiculous real estate prices here.

So my plans are to just get a bigger house with my parents when the wifey comes (bigger than what we live in now). Live there for a few years then get a condo near sq1, once she is comfortable with the canadian lifestyle.

If you are looking for a condo, consider mississauga, the train ride to DT is not too bad (if you work in toronto) and the suburb is ideal to start family life off in. =)

You are right the real estate prices have sky rocketed in the last few years. But if you really think about it, Toronto is still one of the cheapest downtowns in the world and we are constantly growing. Even though it might seem like an absurd price to pay to live in DT, I believe over time it will be a good investment. I have been a realtor in this area for the last 5 years and honestly if you wish to live in DT and are thinking of buying its very much worth it. A brief idea, Toronto DT condo prices are around $650-$750 per Sqft, which is about half compared to other financial districts.

But your plan to buy a larger house in Mississauga might be a more sound investment since everybody wants to live there.

If you ever need to throw some ideas around PM me, I would be more than help a distressed friend.

Hey Optimistic,

Nah bro, I didnt talk to the MP for the spouse sponsorship. My colleagues who had tried were told by the MP to only contact them once the 26 month period was up.

Let us know what the MP says. I am going to be contact his office again soon to discuss if he can help us out by making a case to the federal government on the Pakistani's behalf. He will earn a lot of brownie points in the next election, since our area has a large Pakistani minority.

AOA,

As some of you know I have applied for my wife sponsorship on Jan 2012 and got approval letter on April 20, 2012 and today I checked my status online, it says DECISION MADE and "We received your application to sponsor *** on January 31, 2012. We sent you a letter on April 20, 2012 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us." well they updated this status today while I got approval letter as email on Apr 20, 2012 so not sure why there is a delay for online status and I am wondering what is the next step, how long will it take more for her to get visa and can I apply for her visit visa? as this sep it will be 1 year for our marriage...Any information will be appreciated...thanks

Now you have to sit back and wait for their first review of your wife's file. Will take anywhere from 6-9 months. In that time build up proofs of your genuine marriage. Visit her if possible and yes you can apply for visit visa no problem. Go for it.
