Guys, Alhumdulilah good NEWS...

my family has recieved a letter from CIC which states:

"This is in refernce to your application for Permenant Residence in Canada. In order to continue the processing of your application, we require the following documents."

They have asked for PR status of on of my kid. I hope and feel that this means that they have opened are file for processing???

Any idea on steps to follow? Should i send a fresh medical for my kid who i have sponsored in anticipation that previous one has been expired and they will ask in some time? Should we wait for passport request or can send in advance?

I will be visiting for EID so would prefer to bring family on return if possible, so looking for options to expetide...

I wouldn't suggest you send anything voluntarily until they ask for it. They have BFD on files and they only open on the day of BFD. You can try and email them and explain them your situation and see if they let you send meds and PP voluntarily. The chances are very little, but not zero either. Its definate worth a try since you have a legit reasoning.

My sponsorship application was approved in Mississauga in middle of June and it was received in Islamabad at the end of June. Last friday (Aug 12), I had sent an email to Islamabad asking for my file number. Next day, I got the response and  the file number. Surprising that they were working on Saturday. So this is my update.

I also want to take this opportunity to extend my congratulations to dear Wes. I wish you and your family all the best. I am a silent participant but I have great appreciation for all the help you provide to the members here.

Try emailing them in their working hours. Make sure you have all the required info on the email including your name, Client ID, spouse name, DOB for both.

I got my file number after 7 months after sending them email. My file has been there since December 2010 and my file status still shows "file received" its mean they did not open it yet because I just received reply from them 2 days ago and the answer was still in the queue for initial review and my spouse's medical also expired two weeks ago and they didn't send any letter yet.

Most of 2009 cases are done there are currently clearing up Jan 2010 to July 2010 cases.

Currently they are working on Aug/Sept cases and Initial review normally taskes place after about 9 - 12 month of application receipt so you still have a little more waiting to do.

Well if it was a dec2009 case it's already been 20 months. So you should here something soon.

i sponsored my kids in october 2009, December 23 my file received in Islamabad, nothing after that i mean no AOR, why the process is very slow from Pakistan, one of my friend from India, we worked together he sponsor his wife after me and she is already here two months.
