the time line starts from the AOR date or the date they show on the site ?

From what it says on the website.

The letter only shows that they have received your file and that doesn't necessarily means that when they received your application they created your file the same day.

this is what i got from Minister office

I am replying to your correspondence of January 17, 2011, addressed to the Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, concerning the permanent residence application of your XYZ .

Family reunification is a priority of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.  Accordingly, every effort is made to complete the processing of spousal applications as quickly as possible.  In addition to meeting the statutory requirements of being in good health and of good character, the visa officer must be satisfied that the applicant is admissible to Canada, and, in the case of spouses, that the relationship is genuine and not entered into for immigration purposes only.

I understand your frustration at what appear to be unwarranted delays in issuing a permanent resident visa to your husband.  The many steps involved in processing an application, coupled with the volume of applications, sometimes make it difficult to conclude cases in as timely a manner as we would like.  Please be assured that we make every effort to the deal with the applications we receive in the most efficient and effective manner.

XYZ application was received by the visa office in Islamabad July 12, 2010 and is currently in process. Our statistics show that between October 1, 2009, and September 30, 2010, application for sponsorships of spouses took on average 16 months to process at this visa office.  For updated processing times please consult the following:  http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-spouses.asp#west

While I realize that this situation is distressing to you, I trust that the information provided is of assistance.

Hey Swear this the same response I got just they changed names and dates. It is a template. i got the reply two days a go from ministers office. Now I know they even did not check my application with islamabad. So whatever response I got from Islamabad is more accurate as they said my background checks are over.

Hummmm Interesting.....

They might not anymore, because alot of people who applied late 2010 didn't receive it so might have stopped sending it. So just start counting your 16 months since Oct 7th...

No you should receive it. They send some additional forms along with it. You should let them know that you have not received it and you can ask for another. That is important to get.

Maybe mailing problem. But one should contact the embassy that they did not receive the AOR or any documents.

Alot of people have received AOR after 5 months of time aswell, and the suppelementary form that they send along with it. My wife filled out one that she received with her AOR in March 2010 and now after 11 months she has received the same form again along with IMM0008, background declaration/schedule1, additional family information. Her medical has expired in January 2011, but with the letter above they didn't request remedical. So calm down and relax and you will get things when its time for it. Each and every case is uniqure and dealt differently so nobody knows what to expect...

So your time counts from when you received AOR. Which means, 13 months in February as mentioned above.

Well in march 5th it is gona be 14 months!!
