If your name is Khan or Afrida or etc  then they will check your date of birth and place of birth and then check with their data .Also they consider where you raised up/education ...... that's called back ground check so don't worry about anything.

so when u'll b canadian national....u can have only two nationality,then u have to get rid of paki.

who knows who will live for next min and u talking abt nationality which is process of 3 years may be i will move back to PAKISTAN  to live with parents as they decided before 7 years to move back .....yeah to waqt bataye ga but ALHAMDULILLAH  i was there at time when my wife was in need of me and i was first who hold my son in dec 2011

Name has nothing to do with your processing time  but only the security Check. If your name is similar to some wanted person then security /back ground check may take little more time otherewise don't waste your energy  on thinking about starting Letter/Last letter

GOPPY - IT IS MY BROTHERS FIRST MARRIAGE AND MY SISTER IN LAW HAS NEVER BEEN MARRIED EITHER IT IS HER FIRST MARRIAGE TOO.
WE CHECKED MY BROTHERS ECAS AND IT IS SHOWING PERMANANT RESIDENCE IN PROCESS SINCE JUNE 2010.
ALSO, MY ECAS HAS BEEN SHOWING PERMANANT RESIDENCE IN PROCESS SINCE MARCH 2010.
INSHALLAH PLEASE PRAY FOR ME TOO THAT MY HUSBANDS INTERVIEW LETTER IS SENT THIS UPCOMING WEEK. IN MAY 2012 FOR SURE OR I WILL END UP IN THE HOSPITAL, I CANT HANDLE THE STRESS ANYMORE. ITS TOO MUCH NOW.

I can't say what exactly they do for background check but normally different agencies have different criteria and purposes to perform background chk.
Let say one agency is verifying your educational/Job kind of stuff  and Other agency is checking whether you belongs to some terrorist group etc etc.

It's hard to say what stage they start/finish security check but I think once they open your file then they start background check and by the time they issue PPR/Interview they stop your background.
