Anywhere from 2-3 months in wife cases and 3-6 months in husband cases (due to 2nd background check these days).

My Mom visited me few times in last few years but I had never sponsored her. I hope there won't be any problem for her visitor's visa (trv) since she does not want to move her permanently. I will find out soon as she will be applying again after she gets her new passport.
I just read that part about sponsoring parent for immigration which says that: " New applications received on or after November 5, 2011, will be returned to the applicant, including fees. As of November 5, 2011, no new applications to sponsor parents or grandparents will be accepted for processing for up to 24 months.

They are not accepting applications to sponsor parents for next 2 years

I dont know how accurate that is, as news like that would be all over Canadian news channels and I have not seen, read about that at all.  They may be reporting that a new PR can not sponsor anyone including a spouse for 5 years after gaining PR if marriage used to gain PR fails, in order to combat fraud cases.

I don't know anything about GEO news but what I have read in canadian news is a very good step taken by Canadian Gov't.
Here is the news "Regulatory changes now in force mean sponsored spouses or partners will have to wait five years from the day they are granted permanent residence status in Canada to sponsor a new spouse or partner. Until now, a sponsored spouse or partner arriving in Canada as a permanent resident could leave their sponsor and sponsor another spouse or partner themselves, while their original sponsor was still financially responsible for them for up to three years" TO BUG OFF CHEATERS.

Your application is from a long time and I just read about that you are in interview Q. when is your interview date.

i got an email from embassy that your file is in process and currently background checks are being conducted.
My question is that is this the time for background checks? As my case is on final stage. Kindly see my time line and documents requested and tell me if they just send this email by default or by mistake?

Last response to my email update request was that there was no estimate for when my wifes interview date is.  That was on Monday, standard response similar to others who received an interview email response from an update request.

What I think of your case is they can still waive your interview because your remed is still valid giving u very short time to travel. If this does not happen then expect for the interview anytime from June to Aug 2012.
Very rare chances that they call for the interview before the expiry of remed but hey still this is CHC we are dealing with so u never know

Originally it was they believed our marriage was of convienence and not genuine due to nikah only case, and she was placed in interview.  But we submitted ruhksati pictures after we had full wedding afterwards, then our file when to que for review by immigration officer followed by interview que again.

Pretty much, now i have no clue.

That is true, anything can happen.  But my wife and I are preparing for a long wait, had high hopes a few months back since hearing of cases such as One2k's but those high hopes are long gone.
