I have been working in Canada for the past 2.5 years, the first year was on a open work permit and since the I have been on a closed work permit after getting BC PNP nomination. I received my Visa today and plan to go to the border to "land" at the weekend. After landing am I free to change employment or do/should I wait until I receive my PR card in two months. Also if an opportunity was to come available outside BC am I entitled to take it?

Thanks.

As you got the PR visa and applied while inside Canada you can go and complete the landing procedure at any CIC office near by or the boarder which ever is more convenient.  For traveling out of BC you have the COPR copy which shows that you are a landed immigrant and waiting for PR Card. You can travel any where within Canada but if you exit from Canada then you cannot enter back in Canada without the PR Card or a travel document.

Thanks wilson, but it doesn't really answer my question about changing employment. Anyone?

Yes, once you are landed as a PR, you can change jobs without any worries.

You can also relocate outside BC if you want to.  As a condition of BC PNP, you signed a statement saying you were intending to settle there.  This must also be true at the time you land as a PR so it will look bad for you if you leave BC right away but there is also no minimum time you must stay.

Thanks Leon, I do plan in staying in BC but if the right position was in a city outside BC I might find it hard to turn down. I have been advised to stay with my company untill I get my PR card but something may come up before then so would like the option to move on.  Cool
