Hello everyone,

so I´m a Canadian living abroad, and I will be sponsoring my husband (we have 2 small children together). Now my question: Since I´ve been married, I have a double name (meaning I kept my maiden name and accepted husbands name). I have alsways intended to change that and to only keep my husband´s name. Now my question:
Should I change that before I send the sponsorship application? If I change it while CIC is processing my husband´s file, do I have to inform them about my name schange? And does it in any way look better if the wife has only husband´s name in terme of evidence of genuine relationship, or does it not matter?

It is better to change your name either before you submit the application, or after the PR visa has been issued and the applicant has landed in Canada. You can change it in the middle of processing, but this is more complicated; just inform CIC and the visa office of the name change.
Having your husband's name or not should not make any difference in their determination if the relationship is genuine. I have never heard of it even being mentioned by a visa officer.

The OP is the SPONSOR.  It doesn't matter if she changes her name or not.

The work permit will be issued in the same name as the passport.  If you have gotten married and changed your name, ensure that the LMO has your correct name, send a copy of your marriage certificate and copy of your new passport with the work permit.
