change expired trs to visitor

Good day!!!
Please advice me on this. Is it possible for me to apply for a visitor`s visa while I am waiting for my PR processing done through CEC? My work permit expired last February 5, 2010 and still looking for a company that is willing to process LMO. Going back to home country is just too expensive, but staying here with lost status is really torturing.

What is your current status in Canada?

It was work permit before. Now that it is expired, I still try to get a new work permit while waiting for my CEC PR approval. A LMO is on the 4th week of processing right now and once it is positive then I can apply for a new work permit. Just to make sure that I can stay here in Canada and add more option, is it possible to apply for a visitor visa?

Have you applied for a new WP before the expiration of your previous work permit? If you did not apply for one or did not apply for a change of status then you are now out of status. You need to apply for a restoration of status within 90 days.

Yes, me out of status right now for 41 days already. I am praying that my LMO in Alberta would get a positive response anytime soon so I could apply for a new work permit.
My understanding is that restoration of status goes along with applying for a new work permit. Or  could I apply for restoration of status separately like even before applying for a new work permit?

Apply for restoration of status now and tell CPC the reason you are applying  for is because you're waiting for your LMO. You can apply for the WP as soon as you get your LMO.

Have you filed your RP-CEC app? LMO processing is normally 6 weeks if there was no problem at the employer's side, meaning recruitment efforts had been shown, otherwise, LMO app sits at HR and then then HR sends refusal, so contact your employer to follow up the LMO application.

Yes, I have an LMO on process. It`s now on the 5th week as relayed by my new hog company employer in Alberta.
My CEC PR application is now 7 weeks in buffalo and I am still waiting for file number.
It is a great peace of mind to know I could apply for restoration of status while waiting for my LMO. But what if there is a negative LMO? How will that restoration of status help me?

Will buy you time if granted for a longer period; gives you status because right now you are out of status and it would have shown good faith on your part that you tried to work within the immigration system even if refused.
