chances of getting TRV approved while PR is concurrently in process?

Question:
I plan to submit spousal PR apps this month and at the same time submit a TRV app sometime in Oct (or after sponsor approval) to visit hubby maybe with my parents in Dec. What are the chances of the TRV getting approved? We can show evidence of strong ties back home to convince of CIC no overstaying i.e. property, letter from employers, kids etc. Ballpark figure? 50-50?

Just need to know before we purchase the tickets...as they sure ain't pocket change...

Show as much evidence of your ties to your home (all that you mentioned) BUT there is a huge chance that you'll be denied (uhhhh.... 90% of denial, maybe)...

Don't buy any tickets before you are approved since you are are more likely not to be.  I think you just have to show your possible travel itinerary.

Goodluck! My husband was denied for TRV, so I'm pretty jaded about the whole process!

that was what i did when i applied my first trv in 09, didn't buy the tickets till it was approved however i was hoping a return ticket would provide evidence you actually plan to come back,

anyways, will try to apply once sponsorship is approved as i've read in other thread it would actually helped

If you submit spouse PR app and TRV app., then its something termed as "dual intent". Both the applications will be considered. Now how this will be interpreted by the officer...don't know.
There is no point in booking a ticket. I mean yes, for one thing if the ticket you book and show with TRV application would suggest that you will come back, BUT it is still a risk.

Yes, I would try too no matter my chances. It is only $75 to apply!

It's a HUGE plus that you have been approved for TRV before. They look positively on people who have a good travel record (that is if you left Canada when you were supposed to!). So I think your chances are good.
