Hi!
Anyone can suggest how to get the copies of my birth certificate and ID card certified in Canada, my orignal douments are in Urdu, and I already have got the translation from back home, but how can I get the copies of these documents certified. Will I have to find a notary public or oath commisioner who can understand urdu??? do you guys know anybody, I live in Calgary!

The translator certifies the translation of the document.  They don't have to be notarized.

I think after translator certifies, it still may need to be notarized. In the guidelines, it says All documents have to be notarized unless specified otherwise. So maybe you can get it translated, and then the translation notarized.

Sorry, you think wrong.  Read http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5610E.PDF  It says " If your documents are not in English or French, send a certified translation of the document with a COPY of the original version.

sonikams, make sure you have the most recent version of the guidelines.  The statement you cite sounds like something that was changed more than 2 years ago...

Do you need contact for translation or notarization in Calgary..Let me know if you need further help.

There are tons of businessess who do it in NE. Look for "Commisionar for Oaths"
