Cdn trying to bring Swedish Girl friend to Can.

My girlfriend and I have been together for 2.5 years now.  Currently I am living in Sweden until June (with her) and planning to move home then...she will come a month after.  Under common law & conjugal partnerships, we do not really meet most of the criteria: 

- At the moment I do not work (past 12 months I only have 3 months of work) but have enough saved
- We have no large purchases together
- We have a rental contract at the house since April (was living here april-june then to canada for summer to get a visa then arrived back in sept) but only lived together continually sinc sept.
- no joint bank accounts or anything like that
- we DO have mail sent to the same address

1)  We plan to get married within the next 1.5 year.  I am wondering how strong is my case and or should I try     
     something else?  How long would that take to apply from outside of canada?

2)  Also she is elgible for a youth exchange visa and can get that to come to canada for a year.  If she does get
     that and we marry next year can she stay in canada under her visa and then I sponsor her as my spouse or is 
     there a problem?

I think first you need to get married before applying to permanent, cause it will really helps you to soon land in Canada.

Definitely its good chance for you. cause the same thing with me i first married cause now i have received my client number but, i don't know when canadian embassy islamabad call me for interview or additional papers. if you know a little bit please brief me.

The one-year cohabitation is an absolute requirement.  Without that, you can forget about common-law sponsorship.  Conjugal partner sponsorship isn't really an option for you, because you don't have barriers to marriage.

1.  Your sponsorship application will take about 50 days @ Mississauga and your wife's PR application is currently taking 8 months for 80% of cases @ London.
2.  I suggest you get married after she arrives in Canada on the exchange visa.  Then you can sponsor her in-country.

I have same problem. My boyfriend is Canadian and I want to go there too. But there are same problems as you have. Only mail address wont be enough for them (i know it because I was asking all these stuff before on Canadian Embassy). The easiest way is for you two to get married and then you can sponsor her. If you dont have enough money or at least 1 year of full-time work, you can be 1st sponsor (you are BAD sponsor for them) and one of your parents can be 2nd one (if they earn enough- you can find all those stuff on CIC).

So if you really wanna live with her, marry her and ask parents to help you with sponsoring.

by the way... cant she apply as skilled worker?

No Co-sponsors on spousal applications.  A spousal sponsor does not need to be employed to sponsor, only cannot be collecting welfare, except for disability.

Does anyone know what the rules are for marrying someone when they are on a Swedish Youth Exchange visa in Canada?  Are they allowed to stay in the country while you apply to sponsor your partner and continue to work?
