Dec. last year we sent an application for a certain employer in Canada to work as live-in caregivers. We were informed that positive labour market opinion has to be obtained first so we can be able to process a work permit. How long does it usually take to obtain the result? Until now we were informed that no response has been made yet and it may take even longer. What's happening.... is this usual???

For caregivers, processing time is now 4 years. It can increase also in future.

Assuming you are applying for a work permit, check the processing times for the office overseas where you will be applying.  You can find the web sites of the offices here:http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/index.asp
