Hi I just came across your post, and was looking at the linked info. If you go to the U.S. government site lined from there (http://customs.gov/xp/cgov/trade/basic_trade/export_docs/motor_vehicle.xml) it defines export as an item you intend to place into commerce in foreign nation. I'm pretty certain that means it's only an export if you're shippping it for resale, not if you're doing so for personal use.

I have heard a lot of landing stories of people crossing the border with their car, and no one has mentioned having to export it first. You might want to double check before you end up incurring export fees for a car you don't plan on selling for profit!

Please ignore if my info is not up to date,

-I have done my landing and now I am taking (export) my car in Canada for personal use.
-I have read Qorax's post and accordingly, I need to get export stamp from USA
I have read about same couple of months back, from other members. Export certificate/stamp is needed, to let know USA authorities that this car is not in USA anymore.
Also, if you visit the link I have shared above, it has phone no., when I called at that no., I got a recorded message regarding same. In that it was mentioned that it is needed step and there is no fee for this step.

In fact, when I wrote (e-mailed) to USA authorities about same, I have received reply (e-mail), having all instructions, one of the instructions is that, in such case, we are not suppose to brought car to Canada before exporting.
