Hi guys,
I am also having difficulty in getting experience letter from my former employer (more than 4 yrs experience). I have made contacts and he appears relunctant to send the letter directly to me. he said he will main it to CIO. No problem, just send me a copy to send with my application. This up and down has been going on for a month now and I am about giving up. The difficulty is I am currently in another country thus cannot go there myself...only I can do is call and e-mail which are not responded. Luckily he sent me a draft of the letter he has written and send he will finalise it and send it to my via e-mail. I am considering writing a cover letter and attach my payslips (which i fortunately kept for most part of the 4 yrs), as well as current e-mail correspondence between my former employer and I. has anyone done something similar and it went ok? Please share your experiences!.

Dear mandiebraxton,

Try to get an email or confirmation that they cannot provide experience letter. If that also he is not bothered to give....no problem...Just try to have your old documents such as appointment letter, salary pay slips, or employee ID, etc to prove your employment.Even your old contract will also be helpful.

If nothing is available, write an explanation letter to VO explaining the situation with decent language.
Try to keep your documents organized and make it smooth presentation.

They will consider your case provided you prove other documents also such as Pay slip, contract, employee ID, increment letter, etc.

If nothing is available for documents, then its VO choice to give u a chance or not.

 @  mandibraxton,

i also had similar problem with one of my employers- i submitted notarised copy of my work contract, my business card, my original pay slips for few months of every year, my increment-bonus letters(at least one original, others notarised copies), and if u have tax returns paper. but all this along with a written explanation of why i couldnt get the certificate. and i guess it worked. if you are genuine dont worry, they have their ways of checking. (but please note i had good references from my other employers, just one i couldnt convince)

hope this helps- regards.

it is quite encouraging to know there are others in similar situations. I am not worried about CIC calling my former workplace for verification, cos it is very genuine. thanks for your insight!
