Sounds like he killed himself out of depression over losing his job, not because he was kicked out of Canada.  If he was in Canada for 10 years, he would have had many opportunities to apply for and be granted PR.  Heck, he could have had citizenship already.  Even after he lost his job, he could have been sponsored for PR by his wife, he could have applied as a skilled worker or he could have applied under CEC.

Actually no, if you read the story, it says that he has been working in Canada for 10 years but married only for 2 and that they had a daughter.  If he was already in Canada for 8 years before getting married, he could already have applied for immigration.  Who knows why he didn't.  Having a child with his wife doesn't point to it being a sham marriage either.
