Hi,

My brother has done his studies from Ontario, Canada. After the education, he applied for the PR. His medical ran into a bit that it showed 'probable tuberclosis (TB)' in his chest X-Ray, which I read online that its very frequent and happens for three out of five applicants.

Now he is undergoing further medical tests to determine if it is inactive TB (most of the cases) or active. Meanwhile, his current visa is about to expire. I would like to ask:

1. Is there a way of extending his current visa? He has talked to his current employer but they have refused as its a lengthy process and they do it only for very senior level people.

2. Will asking the Canadian Immigration directly on this and asking them to extend his current visa till the medical tests conclude help? Is there any contact he can directly approach?

Basically, any route via which he can go about to get out of this situation that his current visa is expiring soon and the PR application will take time to complete now.

Also: He has given his sputum for the culture test and waiting for results in a month or so. Once that clears off, how much time more will it take to get the PR application through? Any timeline trends?

Any inputs will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Sandy

Hi,

Would really appreciate any inputs on this. He has about 4 months left on his current work visa, he has given his sputum test and awaiting results in probably a month time. How much more time it will take to get the final PR, if the result is negative?

Also, any inputs on the possiblities of his visa will be greatly appreciated.

Seniors, please reply.

Thanks
Sandy

Canadian Immigration is not going to extend his visa until his medical test are finished.

He either needs to convince his current employer to extend the visa - or he'll need to find a new employer who is willing to help him obtain a new visa.

Hi Scylla,

Thanks a lot for the reply!

Would you be knowing the general timelines around the medical tests? Given he has around 4-5 months left in his current visa and he has begun his sputum culture test around a month ago, how much time would it take for the results and the further PR application?

Thanks

Sputum test will take 6 to 8 weeks and if result will be negative they will issue ur visa within three weeks after final medical report received.
