Friend of mine wants to study in North America.
He is asking what educational system is better in Canada or in United States.
Could you please provide me with some information regarding the difference?
Thank you.

Do you mean tertiary education?
America has more famous universities so if he ends up in those, then the US uni is better.
If he is going to a mediocre US university as opposed to a top Canadian university, then Canada is better.

Overall, Canadian universities are generally cheaper but depending on the field, theres more or easier funding in the US.

Both have world class universities. In certain countries, having an American university brand name has some value but as an academic, I am not big on that, however, it could help in employment.

If he is hoping to study and stay in the country, then thats a different discussion and depends on where he comes from, the economy when he graduates, whether there is any change in rules in immigration, etc.

For me a US visa is easier to get than Canadian study visa cause i didn't have to prove that i would come back to the country or maybe i did by telling them my family lives in my home country. In Canada, i think the proof is more extensive.

I am not an expert at Canadian Immigration. The CIC website is a great (if not the greatest) resource for Canadian Immigration. Also see http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/common-questions-t13225.0.html

Having studied in both canada and US, both in pretty good universities at the bachelors level, system wise, its about the same generally with the graduation requirements in the respective similar programs except in US, its more flexible and allows greater creativity in course offerings and cross majors in disciplines for most unis. So if yr friend is deciding where to study, it all depends on his career goals and where he intends to stay and do after his graduation! Both countries unis are equally good and reputatable. of course, it also depends on the program yr friend intends to pursue! get him or her to look up the programs and unis he intends to go and compare from there. Hope that helps.
