Can I just send a NOT notarized copy of my canadian birth certificate? Did anyone do that? I know they say all copies must be notarized, but does that also refer to a canadian passport or birth certificate, since they could still check in their system, that I am indeed canadian, even if the copy is not notarized?

Edit: I just read in the guidelines, that only translated documents must be certified, all other documents is English can be normal copies.

It is not necessary to notarize copy of  passport or birth certificate.
