Hi,

I am in US. My attorney while applying for my h1 extn says that i may get an extn but without new I-94 attached . And she says to get an I-94 i have to go out of US and come back in with a New I-94. I was told for this ,i must fly to canada instead of driving.

My question is , in the Canada Visit VISA application form, can i quote this reason?

Thanks in advance

Do you have a Canadian visitor visa? To enter Canada you must either have a TRV or be a citizen of a country who does not need visa to enter Canada.

Job_seeker, Thanks for the quick reply..

I am actually applying for the Canada visit visa so that i can go out of country ( US) and come back in with  new I-94 given to me at the US Port of entry.

So my question is ,while applying for the Canada visit visa, in the application form, for the purpose of the visit, can i say  something like "I need to go out of US To get a new I-94, so i am visiting canada.. " .. ( I am in US presently)

Thanks

I can understand your predicament as I am in the same boat and have been avoiding travel abroad. As far as I can speak for my case my I797 had a new I94 though my visa expired.

The only reason I need to go out is to get my visa re-stamped and I had Canada high on my list to do that.

Regardless, in my personal opinion you should not say I need to get my I94 renewed, why not mention that you are there for sightseeting and while there why not do some sightseeing Smiley

The reason for visiting seems awkward and IO may notice or not notice at all.

Yeah you can get your visitor visa in a day in NYC. Tourism would probably work. Anyway the officer will interview you and you can be honest with him in the interview. I have been thinking and thinking (really, getting creative) but I can't think of a better reason.  Sad Your need for the visa is so simple.

Hi rk2009 and Job_seeker : THANK YOU very much.

Frankly i don't want to mislead but at the same time don't want to jeopardize my chances of getting a visit visa.

So  can i write "Tourism" in the purpose of visit column? Any ideas about good places to visit in "Winter" in Canada?

Regards

If you're unable to obtain a Canadian visa, Mexico works too. I've done that before and so have a few of my friends. Tourism in Mexico is very common at this time of the year.

my advice - not try Detroit office, they are extremely hard on visas. and try to get a good reason for entering Canada, as seeing that your I-94 expired, they will tempt to think that you wish to enter Canada instead.
good luck.
