I am living in the Middle East. I received a letter from CIC Delhi to send my (and my family's) passports to CIC Delhi office for visa stamping. However, since I am already out of my home country - India living in the middle east, I am reluctant to send my (and family) passports to Delhi by courier. However my wife is travelling to India and she has offered to go personally to hand over passports for visa stamping. Can someone please advise the following:

1) If the passports are sent to New Delhi Canadian commission by courier, how much time would it take for the passport to be stamped and returned by courier.

2) Is it possible to send my wife to Delhi along with my passport and an authority letter from myself to allow her to carry my passport. If she goes to the Canadian Commission Delhi personally on my behalf, how much time does it take for visa stamping and for my wife to return with the stamped passport.

Will appreciate your feedback / assistance

Hi,

If you send your PPs buy courier to New Delhi, how you will get it back to ME.?. You will be in deep trouble if you don't get your passport back. So, what I suggest is that better you submit the passport directly at CHC through your wife and she can get it back from the counter after  stamping of visa, which will be noted in the receipt. Usually it may take 2 weeks to one month. But if she make a personal request about your situation, they may consider it eralier too. However, you can wait for more comments on this topic from others and decide what to do.

Hi,

You would have to send your pasports by Courier since new delhi CHC does not accept passports through hand delivery.
You could also send a letter stating your position ,which could help them in sending it back to you on Priority.

You know that is illegal to mail/courier passport in/out of India?  Even if you got a courier to take them to India, Delhi will only send them to an Indian address.
Most people find that they have to authorize a trustworthy person to hand carry them to India and back.

Hi PMM

I think you are most senior member in the forum ! your advices so helpful , thanks for your help.
Iam in USA , I got the medical and Passports request , If I  made the arrangement to send to INDIA by my frined and back by my friend will it work ?

Step 1: Friend will carry my medical and post to ND CIC
Step 2: ND CIC will send to india address ? (our communicaiton address updated as usa address, how we have to communicate to ND CIC our home address in HYD (is there any provision even if our communication address usa ! we can mention iin the application form stating that please send the stamped passports to india local address ?) ? ).
Step 3: My friend will bring the passports back to USA personally.

If it is safe to do I can follow above steps.

STEP 2 I  need more clarity regarding address , Could you please suggest the right procedure ?

Thanks in advance

1.  No the DMP will send the medical results to Ottawa,(You can offer to pay the courier charge for him/her to send them to the RMC in Delhi, but most refuse) just make sure that Delhi knows they were done, so they can down load the results.
2.  Update your mailing address to Delhi, or ensure that if the requests for passports arrives at the local Indian address, that you are notified.
3.  You do a letter of authorization for your friend to carry the passports to and from India.
4.  Your friend couriers/blue darts the passport to Delhi.  They are sent back to your address in India.  Your friend then brings them to you in the US>

Hi PMM,

Just a couple of questions.

1) The DMP will be sending the medical report/ result to Delhi office or Ottwa office?
2) What is RMC?
3) Should we need to inform New Delhi office after the completion of our medicals? Thru email or fax or letter? Please Advice.
4) How do we confirm that the medical reports have been sent to the CIC (other than the confirmation from the DMP)? Can we get it confirmed from the CIC ?

Please reply. Thanks for your precious and valuable time.

Warm Regards, George

Dear Suraj,
I am sailing in the same boat. I am working in Abu dhabi and need to submit my passport in CHC ,ND. I am sending my wife to India along with my passport. She will send to CHC by bluedart with a declaration. After Visa stamping, which may take a month or so, CHC will send back the passports by courier. Let me know if u have already done your medical. I have a question regarding the medicals.
Keep in Touch..

the first part of your question is possible. most of the people from india pakistan sent their passports with family members or friends along with an authority letter. but sorry i dont know the answer to the second part of your question i.e. if or not chc new delhi entertains the candidates who want to go their personally. maybe someone who has this experience can advise you.
