Canada Permanent Resident

Good day experts:

I am planning to move and live in Canada permanently and have some questions that you may have answers for.

Background:
I am an IT professional with U.S. master degree and have been working for in IT jobs for about 4+ years. I currently have an H1B status in the United States and would like to immigrate to Canada through skilled workers and professional category.

I realized that there are 6 categories and I have to score at least 67 points in order to be eligible for this. I am guessing that they are asking for college transcripts as a proof of your degree. How would they rate your ability to speak English and verify the years of experience you have?

Also, I will move to Canada after I sell my assets and find a job there. Do they have a regulation that requires us to be in Canada certain period of time after they approve your permanent residency? for example: I have to move to Canada 30 days after my application was approved.

Lastly, how's this affecting my immigration status in the US?

Well, Mr. T, seems like you are really at the start of your research.

You should go to www.cic.gc.ca and read a little bit more. Surely you'll have other not-as-obvious questions after reading a bit.

Just to give you some starter food for thought: the process takes a few years. A great scenario, that I'm sure others will qualify as too optimistic, would be getting your visa in 24 months.

There are too many posts talking about English proficiency tests to write more than this sentence.

Getting a job in Canada without being permanent resident is no walk in the park - possible, but rare. Search posts for that too.

Do you need to move before a certain date after you get your visa? Yes, before your medical expires. But I sense that doesn't help you yet.

I think the moral of the post is, don't sell anything just yet. And go do some reading.
