Hello,

Can someone please help me out on the below?

I have an open work permit which expires in March 2011. I got this at the port of entry as my spouse had a skilled work permit which also expires in March 2011. His employer will be renewing his work permit by end of Jan 2011. Currently  I am hunting a job and do not have an employer who can file for my renewal.
1)What are the documents needed for my open work permit extension?
2)What are the chances of rejection in case I do not have a job by the time I submit my renewal?
3)How long does the open work permit extension process take?

Please help!!

1.  See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend-stay.asp
2.  You include you application with your spouses application.  CIC doesn't care if you have worked or not, it is immaterial to OWP.
3.  47 days if you file electronically.

Please help!!

Dear Experts,

I have a "closed" work permit for Canada and my wife has a TRV.

Now, I wanted to apply for an "open" work permit for my wife.

I meet all the criteria for applying the spousal "open" work permit.

I wanted to know which is the best and safest way (minimum rejection and fastest turn around time):

    1) I apply for spousal "open" work permit from India (My current location)

   2) I apply for spousal "open" work permit at the port of entry.

   3) I apply for spousal "open" work permit after I reach Canada.

What are the timelines, criteria and risks in all the 3 alternatives.

Appreciate an elaborate and swift answer and we need to leave for Canada as early as 26th January.

option 2 is not for you because of Indian citizenship as per me. option 1 will require more time than 26 Jan. So only option left is 3.
