According to a recent report, Jason Kenney, the Citizenship and Immigration Minister of Canada, will soon be presenting the Immigration Action Plan for 2012. In his previous statement, Mr. Kenney said that Canadian government is expecting level of immigration to be about 250,000 in the next year.

The Canadian Immigration Minister has also expressed that they are planning to maintain their high immigration level to the country. Mr. Kenney expressed his view after addressing a national citizenship and volunteerism lunch organized by the Citizenship Institute of Canadian. Canada has the highest per capita of immigration rate across the world.

However, he is not expecting an increase in the number of immigrants to Canada for the near future. According to him, they might not be able to increase the number of overseas immigrants very much, as their economic condition is a little unsteady at present moment. They don't want to attract immigrants to the country who may have to face unemployment. He also said that their aim is not to attract immigrants to fulfill job requirements for the growth of their economy.

The Canadian Immigration Minister, Mr. Kenney is planning for a number of reforms to their immigration system. In an interview with Media, Mr. Kenney expressed that within a few years duration, they will try to make their immigration system a more flexible, on-time . . . system, in which they will issue visas to the qualified overseas aspirants within a year of submission of their application.

The Government of Canada has said that currently they are considering some modification in the point system in place for the Federal Skilled Worker Scheme. Therefore, Mr. Kenney wants to bring some necessary changes in the point system to allow immigrants with higher level of educational qualifications to Qualify for Canada immigration. Moreover, they will put more emphasis on proficiency of English or French language.
