Canada and Australia both??!?!?

 Hi,

Thank you for the previous help! My husband is a Canadian citizen, and I am living in Saudi Arabia right now. My husband has applied for my sponsorship last month.

Now, my husband also wants to apply for Australian immigration. We have a family business, and we would like to expand it there as well in the future.

I think it won't be a problem for my husband, but I am confused about the following two things...

1) If my husband applies for Australian immigration, (he will be main applicant, but I will also be included in the application)..will I still be able to get Canadian immigration? I mean is the process for my PR effected by the process of the Australian immigration???


I am asking this cus we have to prove that we plan to re-establish ourselves in Canada. So do we have to delcare that we have also applied for Australian immigration?




2) If the answer for the above question is yes, then what I apply for Australian immigration myself (I mean with me being the principal applicant instead of my husband).

This way, my sponsorship case would be under my husband's name...while our Australian immigration will be based on me as the main applicant. Is that how it works?



3) Since my husband and me are already the nationals of Pakistan (and he has Canadian nationality), will it effect our case? I mean is there a law that states that we can only have a maximum of two citizenships?

We just want to be on the safer side...my husband thinks that I might not be able to get my PR, as we have very strong ties with Saudi Arabia (we have our family business here)..and even he is living in Saudi Arabia at the moment.

So he thinks that just to be on the safer side, I should apply for Canadian PR as well as Australia..so I have a back-up option even if I am refused to come to Canada.

For Australia, we will be going on a business immigration.

Canada would not grant you PR if you plan on moving to Australia. I believe your best bet would be to wait a few years, get your Canadian citizenship, then both of you apply to Australia.

If Australia doesn't say that you need to show proof that you want to establish yourself there, you could do both. However, for Canada at least you need to live there a certain amount of time before you can request citizenship or even extend your PR status (needs to be done every 5 years). This means that you can't live in Australia anyway.

You'll need to choose: your private life or your business life.
