Hello all

I have a question and cant seem to find any answers for it; what happens if the sponsered person (spouse - overseas sponsoship) is living in a country other than their native country and has applied and received the canadian visa while waiting to become the citizen of that country? Would it be possible for a visa to be transferred to the new passport which will indicate their citizenship as that country's?

Also how long should a passport be valid before entering canada with this immigration visa? I have seen people talking about the 6 month thing, but does it depend on the country where the visa is issued?

Your response is greatly appreciated

If the visa has already been issued, it is highly unlikely they can simply "transfer" it to another passport.  I don't see what difference it makes if they already have the PR visa, where you're coming from with it is not really that relevant, what matters is that it is valid on entry to the country.

In general, your passport should have at least 6 months' validity on it when traveling to a foreign country.  PR visas expire either on the one year anniversary of the applicant's medical exam, or the expiration of their passport, whichever comes first.
