Dear forum members,

My cousin completed his medicals few days ago, however, his BMI was 43. He is healthy and has no issues except of high blood pressure.

Do you think his high BMI will affect the results of his medical? the physician didn't request for further tests and didn't give any information..

I would appreciate your replies.... Smiley

I have never heard of anyone being denied just because of obesity.  If the high blood pressure is higher than a certain limit, was 140/90 when I did it, they may order further tests to prove that he does not have a heart problem.

Thanks God, he doesn't have any associated heart problems.

I remember a couple of reports from a few years ago of people who were refused to immigrate to Australia because they were too fat but in recent news, I only found New Zealand:

Funny to here this, my BMI is 35, so I should re-think before I apply to NZ or Aus. However, me and my cousin should follow healthy and strict diet, at least for me before I receive the medicals.   Cheesy

I had high blood pressure when I did the medicals.  The doc told me to stay away from all carbonated drinks as well as pizza, salt and candy, especially licorice, even chewing gum.  He said if you must eat candy, just eat pure chocolate.  My blood pressure was already down in 2 weeks.

I think Lipid profile is not done by DMPs for medical. During medical my LDL was around 260  and was not under medication. I started medicine only after my physical health check by my family doctor in Canada.
