Hi Everyone,

I am a student in U.S and want to immigrate to canada. As I see Police Clearance Certificate takes long time. Can I submit my application for Permanent Resident at Buffalo center without Police Clearance Certificate?

Replies will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Alps

You can try.  Just don't be surprised if they send it back and tell you that you need to get the police clearance first.

Yes, you can.  I actually asked the Consulate about this issue directly and the response was to file the application and forward the police clearance when it is available.  In fact, you can write on the envelope you send to the FBI that it is an expedited request and you will get it much sooner.

I agree, you can submit your application without police or FBI clearance. This document has expiration date and normally requested by the CIC close to the end of processing the application.

Yes, gonzalezandrea is right.  Usually they will request it from you.  In any case, no reason to delay your app.

Did you bother to read section 12 of the Checklist for Buffalo?  You might wish to do that.http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/E37048.pdf

You can send it with your initial application or you can send it when CIC asks for it. Just keep one thing in mind that FBI police report is valid for 6 months from the stamp date.

I would suggest to wait till CIC ask you for it. I made the mistake of sending it with initial application and by the time I received my medical paper, I was told to provide it again.

GOOD LUCK!!!
