I'm from the Philippines. Im 23 y/o and graduated as a nursing student in 2010 but still have no job because there aren't much avaialable. I have a aunt in Alberta but when I ask for her help regarding sponsoring me to Canada, she always tells me to just do it myself. I think she just does not want to support me financially there that's why. Now, I have a friend in Vancouver where I can stay with if ever I get to Canada. My question is, Is it possible for me to get sponsored by my aunt in Alberta but I'll be living with my friend in Vancouver and work there? I couldn't get points for experience in FSW category because all hospitals here froze hiring so I have zero experience in my field of work. Sad I'm running out of options and getting frustrated. Do you guys have any suggestions for my situation? Thanks in advance! Smiley

I may be wrong, but I think it's very unlikely for them to accept that. I'm not even sure if residents in Alberta can sponsor nephews/nieces, but in case they do, I think as sponsors they have to provide for you, which is shelter, food etc, so it doesn't matter if you live with your friend or not. If she's your sponsor, she needs to provide for you.

No, you cannot be sponsored by your aunt in Alberta.  Alberta has closed the family stream for their PNP program.

Thanks for the replies! I guess I have no choice but to find work here and apply as FSW. Sad

don't say that you still have a chance all you need to do is go to offices in Philippines that offer jobs abroad or to look on websites that post their jobs abroad and then secure a job and get a Work Visa. I have looked online before and there is a lot of websites that have a lot of jobs posted for working in Vancouver and such for nursing or caregiver and those businesses on there are looking to sponsor people to come and work in Canada as there is a decline of workers in nursing
