i got married last yr and i want to sponsor my spouse to canada...also i have started my mat leave and im receiving ei i want to know if i can sponsor my husband while taking ei  and how long does the process take.i really want him to join me by Gods grace next yr cos i need him to assist me in taking care of our baby.

Hello Gentledove,
You need to tell us if you have applied before now,Date,Noc&what stage you are at the moment.
If you have applied as a single person then you should have informed your Visa office of your spouse and when the baby comes you do the same with $150 bank draft,passport page and photographs.

no,i havent applied.i was only waiting for him to do his medical test so i can submit the application.

One assumes you are a PR or Canadian so you are able then to apply to sponsor your spouse. Receiving ei as a result of maternity leave or other should not bar you from meeting requirements as a sponsor. Timelines depend on the country from which your spouse is applying as a pr and can be found here:
