I need to send my wife's passport back to her after issuance of immigration visa by Buffalo. She sent it to me with one of my relatives at first place. But can't find any now to send it back with. I called FedEx help centre to know in details. They said that they can receive it to parcel to Bangladesh; but unaware of the Canadian cutom regulations.

Does anyone have any experience with FedEx sending passport overseas other than USA? Moreover, recepient address would be my wife's residence (not any passport control office/embassy). How do I know that Canada Custom will not make any issue out of it? If this is all okay, I will prefer sending it with FedEx as my wife can get it in no time. Otherwise, I have to wait for someone trustworthy leaving Canada enroute to Bangladesh.

Please, advise. Thanks.

If your country (bangladesh) have passport as the prhobited items to sent by courier , then no courier willl aceeept... In india passport is a prohibited items( just like explosives, jewellery etc).. But some coutries passport is not prohibited.. like U.A.E, etc.. then u have take a a risk.. but if customs catch it.,. then u r gone

Today, I went to another FedEx location. They said it's not in the prohibited items of Bangladesh. They actually showed me the book which had the list of prohibited items. And since FedEx operates through US whenever something is being sent overseas, it's legal as well both in US and Canada.

I guess I'm going to send it with FedEx.

With both FedEx and DHL, passport is not in either prohibited or restricted item list for "Export TO Bangladesh". It's restricted when someone is sending outside the country (Export FROM Bangladesh).

I actually sent my wife's passport, CPR and other documents to BD with DHL Express on Sept 26, 2011 (Monday Morning) and my wife received it today (Sept 29, 2011).

Well, my wife landed in Canada "officially" yesterday at Toronto Pearson Airport. They treated her very well and gave her welcoming package for new immigrants. FYI, she wasn't asked to show any supporting documents either.

Hey Rossei,

Could give us some details from the time they landed until everything is done. including what questions they asked... cos my wife would be flying out first time and added to that immigration thing, she s kind of nervous... I know you have to fill the border security form from flight and details after that pleas...... by the way, congrats to u and ur wife......
