Hi,

Yes you can take any currency with you but it should be equivalent to the Canadian Dollars you are required to show as a proof of funds.

Cheers

As far as I know authorities will only accept Canadian Dollars as the landing proof of funds.

USD Or CAD may not create problem as you may get them exchange on the airport (in some Intl airports you have money changer before the immigration counter also).

The Important point to consider is what are the % you are going to pay as commission in Canada to convert USD in CAD.

In some countries you almost loose 8-10 Euro when you do the conversion from USD to Euro. I am not sure if Canada has such high charges.

Hi Saki, please give me advise. I will be landing in Alberta next week. I will be bringing 5,000 CAD and the rest proof of Funds will be a latest bank certificate from my bank in the Philippines amounting 500,000 pesos. Would that be enough to the Immigration officer to show my settlement funds at the Port of Entry in Canada? Waiting for your reply. Thanks
