My intended destination as written on the COPR is Ottawa, however before I left my country of origin I was hired by an employer from Montreal. I know I can not directly make a landing at any Quebec City, since they have a different selection process for PR applicants. Can anyone pls help to clarify the following questions:

1. Can I move with my family to Montreal shortly after landing in Ottawa?
2. Our point of entry is Toronto and plan to take a flight to Ottawa. Can I do shortcut and proceed to Montreal  directly since I will eventually move there to start working?
3. What address should I provide to send the PR card during immigration interview at port of enty? Ottawa address or Montreal address?
4. Can I apply my SIN in Montreal or Ottawa. Is the SIN can be used in all states of Canada?
5. How about health insurance can I apply in Montreal or should be in Ottawa. If Ottawa, will the insurance ca be used in Montreal?

Thank you in advance for all who will answers my questions.

You probably could go to Montreal directly but it might cause you problems since if you want to immigrate to Quebec, you are supposed to go through their program.  You could land in Toronto and give CIC an Ontario address, even just a motel or something.  Vacation in Ontario for a week, then go to Montreal and change your address with CIC.  If anybody asks, you started looking for a job and got an offer from Montreal.

I don't think it's worth it to apply for SIN or health insurance in Ontario when you are going fast to Montreal although it might make it look more like you were planning to settle in ON if you started applying for stuff there.  You don't really have to go to Ottawa, you could also stay in Toronto but it is faster to drive from Montreal to Ottawa if you stay in Ottawa a while and have some loose ends to tie up.

Hi Leon,

Tks for your answers... it gave me some light on how I should handle my situation when I arrive Toronto. Will the SIN that I will get from Ottawa/Ontario can be used in Montreal?

How about the PR card, if I decide to send it in an address in Ottawa, will it be valid in Montreal?

I really want to look that it was indeed my first intention to live and look for work in Ottawa, but the best offer of employment came shortly only after I get my PR visa.

SIN cards and PR cards are federal.  They are valid in all of Canada.

You should land in your intended  destination "Ottawa". After receiving your PR card & other  important documents you can move to any other destination. Theses documents are issued by the federal government and there is no restriction on movement of immigrants.I know many people landed in Montral & and wanted to settle there, but later moved to Ottwa,Toronto,Kingston,London and other destination as their children wanted to be educated in English
