I have a work permit that is good until July 2012 and my boyfriend are planning to apply for my PR through common law in March of 2012. Would it be possible for me to apply to extend my work permit while we wait for my PR to be processed or would I have to change my status to visitor to be in the same country as him while we wait for my PR to go through?

Assuming you require a new LMO to continue working, there is nothing to stop you from getting a new LMO and applying for a new work permit.

Mmk, thanks for the info. I wouldn't need a LMO though since I'm exempt from needing one thanks to the intra-company transfer clause with NAFTA.
