Can I apply for visa

Hi guys
I got admission in Bishops university for fall 2012. Can I apply for visa 5 months before the admission date.
can you please suggest me when to apply for visa. I applied for CAQ on 06/02/2012.

First wait for CAQ approval and then apply for study permit...................
