Hi,

Do I need to get an LMO before I can apply for the extension of my work permit?

My permit will expire on October 11 and I am expecting that the result of my application for permament residence will come out on the middle of next year.

Yes, you would need to get an LMO for the work permit extension.

Hi Cabangan
Expiry date on your work permits is there due to LMO expiry or your passport expiry. If your LMO is not expiring in Oct 2009 but your passport is expiring then new LMO is not needed for extension but new passport is needed. If LMO is expiring in Oct 2009 then you need a new LMO. New LMO application would be from your employer not from you. If he still likes and needs you then he may apply for a new LMO. Chances depend on various factors.
