Can Homeopathic or ayurvedic doctors apply under the category of "3112 - General Practioners and FamilyPhysicians"?

Please make it sure. coz they studied medicine and played with dead corpses during their study. One of my friend's relative wants to apply. He has a degree in Bachelor in Homeopathy and Surgery and Masters in Public Health (MPH).

I am sorry, but homeopathic doctors will not be counted in 3111/3112 NOC.
Your friend will fall under 3232 NOC for alternative medicine.

But they Studied Physiology and other human health science books, they carried out surgeries , used medicines from herbs and chemicals like other allopathic doctors do. He now does all sorts of surgeries as surgery comprises the half of his Bachelors degree.

Dear jnathan,

Even in India people differentiate between an allopethic doctor and a homeopethic/ayurvedic doctor. Jobs reserved for an allopethic doctor will not be given to homeopethic/ayurvedic doctor.
Even though some subjects are common in both the fields I am sure there will be lot of subjects which are different.

Not to forget that to get a job as doctor he'll have to clear the licensing exams which is very very difficult.

Confusing matter.

this confusion would reach a decision had we found someone who was a Homeo/Ayurvedic doctor applied and got accepted by CIC. my friend has his Masters degree in Public health and he is regularly doing all the operations usualy done by an doctor who has a bachelors, usually called MBBS in Indian Subcontinent.

I know some my friends who studied with me they select homeopethic and ayurvedic becasue to be a doctor, those days we dont have money to pay more additional fees(risvat/bribe).
they use same medicines and injections doases for patients, so people belive that this doctor is good one. even they earn more than MBBS person (my personal experience , in my family we have some doctors and my mothers brother family run social (Samajik) hospital with normal charges and free for poor people).
so here we dont want to count what doctors are doing in India or other countires. we have to look about Canadian rules and NOC's.
your friend or relatives can try and apply if they seleted then good for them otherwise fees will return back if NER.
but as per NOC they can't apply.

Check the link below.
The guy did homeopathy, but got rejected, but there is also the problem of his college. So cannot say whether the college is a problem or the profession.
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t64503.0.html

Secondly lot of homeopathic doctors prescribe alopethic medicines in India and people think they are similiar to MBBS doctors.
Do you think a homeopathic doctor can prescribe alopethic medicine in Canada or any other developed country or they will be allowed to do surgery??

Your friend when he accepted admissions in this field will certainly know that it has its limitations. This is one of them.
Its high time he faces reality.

Even then if he wants he can apply. The best thing will be that he gets a visa and the worst thing will be that he'll waste some money

Confusing matter.

Everyone,

have a look at this page

http://www.ottawa.ca/residents/immigration/healthcare_en.html

Alternative health treatments
In addition to traditional health services, there are many alternative health treatments available in Ottawa, including homeopathy, naturopathy and Chinese medicine. However, these are not covered by OHIP.

if its not allowed then how it is practiced in Ottawa and its mentioned in that site?
MBBS doctors have always been so envious of the Homeo docs that they have always given negative points and feedback on their degree recognition.

I want solid feedback guys !!

Please have a look at the earlier post where I said that Alternative medicine is included in 3232 NOC and not 3111/3112 NOCs, which are included in the 29 occupations for FSW immigration.

I am not saying that a homeopathic doctor is not a doctor, but it is not included in the doctors which can apply for FSW.

Even an MBBS cannot apply as he is still undergrad.
Only doctors who have completed MD can apply for 3112 NOC and specialist in MS/MD can apply for 3111.
And as you said your friend is equivalant for MBBS, he cannot apply under NOC 3112 or 3111 and neither is MPH considered int he said NOC.

Secondly every country has its form of Alternative medicines and lot of time they work too, and people can study and practice it too, but they are not equivalant of MDs and MSs.
They are not equivalant even in India(high salary/earnings doesn't mean equality or superiority).

If you still have a doubt than ask seniors like qorax or PMM or saki, or post your question in any 'doctors only' thread
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/doctors-from-india-post-june-2010-t65368.0.html

P.S. I am not trying to discourage you or your friend, I am just stating my opinion based on some experience.
My brother has done his MBBS and after that he went to US to study for Masters in Public Health and in the meantime prepared for USMLE(United States Medical Licensing Exams). They are a set of 3 exams which needs to be cleared so that he can study for residency(specialization).
The exams have very fewer success rate and have prerequisite which will be pre medical(equivalant of MBBS) or any other graduation.
