Marlena- I've read somewhere you can do this. Maybe it was on this forum even?? Not sure, if it comes up again I'll be sure to let you know, but I can't confirm this.

Hey Marlena,

Yes you can be but then all mail will be sent to you in Canada. The only problem. is that they give u a limited time to pass in documents like let's say 30 days as per the case in abu-dabi embassy. If you don't receive the letter soon enough, you will only have a limited time to act.  Then in order to extend the time, you will have to contact ur mp and ask him to extend the time, etc.

My sister did this and it worked fine but she recieved the letter when there was only 2 days left for the 30 days. so you have to keep this in mind.

Thank you all for your prompt reply. I was about to scan the document to my husband but I guess I'll forget about it.
One question can I still  request CAIPS NOTES ito know what's going on with the file.

You can request the CAIPS notes, but you still need to get his signature on the form to allow release of the information.

I don't have the form handy (nor the link), but you can search the previous posts, by doing a search on CAIPS, and you will find a link for the release of auth form, as well as the request form under the Privacy Act, to release the notes, mailing address etc...

Also search on Boncuk's previous posts, she did a brilliant explanation of the CAIPS, and how to obtain them etc...

suggestion to you, to get him to sign the form. I sent it to my husband electronically, he signed it, scanned it and sent it back, and I printed it..... [was done within a few hours....beats using any form of snail mail.]

good luck

marlena, I did for the CAIPS. I did not do it for the immigration, because they will not give information on the phone in Egypt - AND I can email as if I am him to ask questions and I have access to his email - so why bother.

I am thinking to do some information investigating a few months after the AOR - to see where things stand.

This wasn't the case in our application. I was my husband's representative.  All the mailings regarding his PR application went directly to him in New Delhi, not to me here in Canada.
