Hey there !!

I am a PR of Canada, I'm 10months away from applying for my Citizenship but I have been deferring a place in Law School in the UK for the past 2 years. I have been offered one last place starting Sept 2012 and I very much would like to pursue it.

However I have heard that if I study in the UK while being a PR of Canada, I will loose my status here.

Can someone please advise me on this matter whether this is true or not !

Thank you, much appreciated !!

You must live in Canada 2 out of every 5 rolling years to maintain PR status. As long as you do this, your PR status will be fine.

Hey,

Thanks so much for the quick reply. So yes, I have lived in Canada for more than 2 years now. I have recently renewed my PR card as well.

So once I maintain my 2years in Canada for the 5year period, my PR status won't be affected, correct?

Thank you so much. My Law course is a 2year program, so I will still have sufficient time to maintain my PR in the 5year period.

Also, will visiting Canada during my summer breaks be a problem with Immigration?

Yes - it sounds like you'll be fine. And yes - you can certainly come to Canada during your breaks.
