If i take dollars cash with me then do i have to show receipt of it, at port of entry to immigration officier? Do they ask for receipt or just ask how many dollars u r carrying? If anyone knows then plz reply.
Today i went to HDFC bank for buying dollars and they told me we can give u cash dollars but we cant provide u any receipt for it. So that's why i m asking. Should i buy it or go to other bank? Huh

Hi Lovely_16,

Its not compulsary to take the receipt of the Exchange you have bought but accoring to me taking the receipt will be good and you will be on a safe side.
Mostly during Check-In you are not asked to show the receipt but not sure.
So, according to me you should purchase currency from somewhere else so that you can get the receipt.

-According to me Thomas Cook is a good option. They provide the receipt without even telling them to give the receipt.

Many forex bureaus provide receipts for the exchange and so are banks.Just wondering why the bank is adamant in giving the receipts.

Anyway it depends with how much you are carrying e.g 10,000 cad could be an issue. There are many better ways of carrying money when travelling.

Well never heard of anyone in intercepted with cash but you dont want to take unnecessary risk.

The forum shall help you farther on this.

Enjoy your flight and happy new year
