Buying an existing Canadian business - any help please

Hi all, my friend has just been offered the opportunity to purchase a business here in Alberta.

I sponsored my fiancé through Family Class so I have no idea how to help him!

Is it possible for him (and wife + 2 daughters) to immigrate here just by buying the business? Can anyone guide me on where to find information about it? I have found investor I formation, but it's only a small business he would buy so now I'm totally lost!

A small buisness won't be enough to let him immigrate.

As you probably saw on the Investors section of the CIC site, he needs to be able to make a $800K investment in Canada and show a net worth of at least $1.6 million.

Also, note that both the Investors and Entrepreneurs categories are currently closed to new application.

1.  No idea what a "bonded" work permit is.
2.  Sure you can buy a business, and as you know you can't work in it.
