I personally recommend FEDEX and if you are currently living in Canada you can also include a completed FEDEX airwaybill and return FEDEX courier envelope coz' in my case it only takes 2 weeks for us to receive the passports & VISA. Goodluck!

readytofly... I got your personal message, however, this forum does not allow me to reply to or send personal messages...
As you correctly point out, the email from Seattle states that they are not going to use couriers anymore so all the passports will be returned using regular USPS mail. However, they say that this policy is effective as of June 1st, 2012... do you think if we send a Fedex envelope today, we still can get it back? I checked previous posts and it seems that they used to send instructions on how to send prepaid Fedex airway bills to get the passports back... this is not the case anymore.

Just found this group which is good as I was struggling to find Seattle transfer groups . Good to see a few people with similar timelines to me still waiting for their MR as well (although majority transferred around same time have already done meds - which is great news for them). Hoping I will hear from Seattle in near future, especially as my bf's Canada work visa runs out next Monday so he can't work after that date

Thanks for replying back. Yeah, the email does not have any instructions for providing a fedex envelope. I think it would be best to include a plain envelope as well as a fedex one. Maybe if the processing is done before June 1st, they would use the Fedex. readytofly... I got your personal message, however, this forum does not allow me to reply to or send personal messages...

This is part of the email msg I received from Seattle:
"YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS FOR THE SUBMISSION OF YOUR PASSPORTS: OPTION A: Bring your passports in person Passports can be brought to our office: 1501 4th Avenue, Suite 600, Seattle, WA 98101 Passports may be brought in on Thursdays between the hours of 8:00 am and 11:00 am. Bring this message when you come in and take a number for General Enquiries. You will be called to a window to submit your passports. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT SAME DAY SERVICE IS NOT AVAILABLE. Your passports and visas will be ready to be picked up between 2:30 pm and 3:00 pm the FOLLOWING Thursday. If you do not come to the Consulate to pick up your passports, they will be returned to you by regular mail unless you arrange to have them returned to you using one of the premium services described below. You must bring your passports in person. A representative may not submit passports on your behalf. For security reasons, the Canadian Consulate General does not allow the entry of recording or transmitting devices into the immigration waiting room or interview areas. This includes all types of cameras, recorders, and cellular telephones. OPTION B: Submit your passports by mail or courier The security of your passports is important to us. We strongly encourage you to use United States Postal Service Express or Priority Mail (if in the USA) or Federal Express Courier Service (if in Canada). This allows you to track the delivery and return of your documents. Our office is not liable for passports that are lost or stolen in the mail. Send your original passports with a printout of this message. RETURN OF YOUR PASSPORTS We will return passports to addresses in the USA or Canada only. If your current mailing address is not in the USA or Canada, you must bring your passports to our office in person. Once you have mailed your passports to us, they will be returned to you within 4 weeks from the date we receive them. Passports sent to us by mail will be returned to you by United States Postal Service regular mail unless you use one of the premium services described below. Passports sent to us by mail cannot be picked up in person. ADDRESSES IN THE USA If your address is in the USA, the Consulate will return your passports by U.S. Postal Service First Class Mail. Please provide a pre-paid, self-addressed return envelope with the correct postage affixed. We will not use registered mail, certified mail or return postage coupons. If First Class Mail is not acceptable, please provide a pre-paid, self-addressed United States Postal Service Express or Priority Mail envelope with the correct postage affixed. Enter a daytime telephone number on the mailing label above the recipient address. Make a note of the tracking number. Please note: We will not return passports to US addresses using ANY commercial courier service. ADDRESSES IN CANADA If your address is in Canada, the Consulate will return your passports via United States Postal Service First Class Mail. Please enclose a self-addressed return envelope. We will not use registered mail, certified mail, postage coupons and Canadian Xpresspost envelope. If First Class Mail is not acceptable, please provide a completed Federal Express air waybill and a return Federal Express courier envelope. You must fill in your name and address as both the sender and the recipient on the waybill. The Consulate's address must not appear on the waybill. You must enter your valid Federal Express account number in the appropriate billing information box. Charges must be billed to recipient, not to sender. Payments by cheque or credit card are not accepted. Make a note of the tracking number. The Consulate will not be responsible for filling out courier labels or verifying shipping charges; these are the sole responsibility of the applicant. Please note: We will not return passports to Canadian addresses using any commercial courier service other than Federal Express."
