Good Evening,

Has anyone ever gone into the Buffalo office to ask questions regarding their permanent residency application? My husband and I applied in December and we have not heard from Buffalo since January. We are very concerned why we have had zero correspondence since then.

I am considering driving to Buffalo to inquire. Any information or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

It is unlikely you will be permitted to enter the embassy to make an enquiry.  Send a case specific enquiry via email, Buffalo happens to be one of the offices that will answer such things.

They might be one of the offices that answers emails, but their responses almost always begin with, "Due to high volumes, we cannot acknowledge receipt of...." And if they can't even confirm what documents they have, my logic says they're not going to tell someone how much longer it's going to be. The only time they actually feel compelled to respond meaningfully about a particular file is if the individual seeks the help of their MP and the MP inquires on that person's behalf. Then apparently they are legally obliged to respond within 24 hours. Still, many MPs just report what the person already knows - that the file is in process and they don't know when they'll be done. However, I think that might be the quickest and best way for FloridaNative to get a response from Buffalo.

In that case, ddobro2 is correct, your Canadian partner needs to request the intervention of their MP.  I have seen a couple of cases from Buffalo that stretched to a year, but not with NO communication at all.  In both cases, they had some circumstances that delayed processing, and Buffalo answered CSE's to that effect.
