Thanks. Yes glowingheart. I did my medicals in advance in July 2011 without them asking. I submitted my FBI last week which they had asked about a month back. They received by FBI last week and I am 99% sure that my quick PPR is because of my email as they had responded saying I am going to get an email from them soon.
My advice to everyone regarding communication with CIC is, do not send emails too often and do not send just because you are tired of waiting before the usual wait time. but DO SEND them email at appropriately calculated time which will definitely expedite your process. Make your email look your request LEGITIMATE and they will help - afterall they are humans on the other end of the email who can be both empathic or irritated based on the circumstance. So, judge and send them inquiry at right time!
Good luck to those who are still waiting , hope your file moves soon.
SN
thanks
they requested meds march 20ish  & i did them on march 30 so I'm still in good time
maybe i will email them in 30 days

I think you should be receiving the PPR anytime now. Email in a month sounds like a good plan if you are not in too much rush, if that was the case I would just inquire now.

We are going for passport stamping to buffalo on next Thursday and land the same day.
Besides passports and 2 photos for each person, what else do I need to take ?
Do the border people need extra photos ?
What other documents are important ?
I will drive into Canada from buffalo border.
Thanks,

I followed your advice. I sent them an email on thursday. In reply to that email the next day, yesterday, they sent me the PPR!! THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I finally got a passport request yesterday!!!!!!!!!!  (sent my passport in two hours through overnight express with a return envelope in it:)

Let's see how long they take to stamp it :-)

Max 2 weeks. That's all it took me. I would say, 1-3 weeks is a decent wait time! You can sort of prepare for your landing etc etc...

They also need a note re your eye color and height. You and all your dependents.

It usually takes 2-3 hours to stamp the visa. Sometimes they ask you to come back after 2:00pm to pick it up. In my case, I showed up at 8:00am sharp and got the visa at 11:00am.

Best of luck and welcome to Canada.

Apart from insurance, one more thing:

I have some friends who moved (I am planing too Smiley ). You car need to be fully paid (you should be carrying the title). There should NOT be loan on it. There is nothing special thing needed, just declare on crossing that you are taking car to Canada permanently. they will free it from custom duty.
