Thanks Rasha & Emmy for all the info that you had provided it's really helpful.
I read through Emmy's previous threads and suggested not to check box Overseas Visa file in IMM5563(CAIPS Included) since it could delay somehow the process or put your file back to square 1.
All I want to know if my was received in Damascus and if they start looking at it. In your opinion should I wait a little bit longer before requesting the information on IMM5563 or would still provide me some updates.

Thanks again.

To be honest, if you're still in the early stages, you won't really learn much.  There appears to be a 5-6 week backlog in sending them as well (I'm not sure if that means any activity in the next 5-6 weeks will be included in the report when it finally comes or not).

But look, at the end of the day, it's only $5 to request it, and you can request them again later if you need to, when the application has progressed further.

And yes, don't tick the box for the overseas visa file.  The standard CAIPS notes printout will answer your initial question and can be done by CIC in Canada.
