This is really Bad...I applied in 2005 June and heard nothing at all after that, only the File no and  No Updated  at all after that.....When the fast track law came in place in 2008 , I was tempted to apply in the new set of laws as my profession was in the NOC. But **spam** told me not to and convinced me that once you have a File No you it is a guarantee that the CIC will process my application and no need to do anything. Only thing is that it would take time and I didn't mind as I was not in a hurry.

Only in 2011, I had a change of heart applied under the new NOC and Cancelled the old application and received my Visa 2 weeks ago...Jeez when I look back at it what a crucial decision it was. Close call indeed.

I feel so sorry for all those who have been waiting for almost 7 years Sad(

CONGRATULATION!!!...Wise thought for you to try another route....I did the same as l applied Dec 2007 to CHC-London. But when I change my location, they refuse moving my file to my new locality...they said l can re-apply since l am in a new location...So I re-apply under the Quebec and I just got my Selection Certificate last week...But l am really sorry for those who didnt seek other alternatives all these years...And also l was moving on with other life processes, as l am almost done with my PhD now...
But in fairness, these decision to stop backlog without alternative way was not the best way anyway!!!

How will they refund our money.. will they pay with Interest of 6+ years as they just used our money and didn't even touch our files. If they are refunding we should demand with Interest as this should be our rights

Morally they should refund fees plus interest plus all application costs including cost of IELTS, notarization, PCC etc. Realistically though they will only refund the fee and will pocket the interest they have made on that money all that time. Thieves Sad

Seems you guys missed that this week it was announced that CiC is going to open the border for US workers to come into Canada. As Americans are very compatible to Canadian job skills and industry standards they are highly wanted, not ppl from other countries. This is a major change and to cut this backlog is simply needed to make space for US Americans to come in soon under new regulations.

Hi Pummelchen,

Can you post a link to the announcement? Certainly Canada has been on the path to sell its its sovereignty to the US, just like Mexico, but I didn't expect this coming so soon!

Sorry it included the guy's IP address in the quote (I normally just hit "quote" out of habit).

I have removed his IP address from the quote in my post.

Hello Everybody,

WE need to collectively raise our voice against this injustice.
We can do it,as of now it is just a proposal at the moment.
This needs to be validated at the parliament soon... as per the below quoted lines...

We should not sit and discuss this but find ways so that our voice / cries should be felt in the parliament
and a harsh decisions should be stopped before it is imposed on us...

"
Q5. How would I get my refund?

More details on the proposed change will be announced soon. Once the proposal is approved through Parliament, CIC will begin to return the fees.

Details will be available on the CIC website"

Just one clarification:

Those who have filed through agents or consultants and heve even paid post landing service charges, what will happen to their fee. will agents return this amount to clients. In my view Clients have evry right to appeal in indian court against the agent and cic will definitely become a party to it. This will bering insult for cic and media will definitely exploit this situation. And I expect and hope lot of litigations will be filed in indian court and I am one of them. I have already consulted my advocate and case can be filed in india in such a scenerio and may bering relief to clients in returning money in addition adverse remarks to cic.
