Boyfriend moving to Canada

Well, 2-part question really. First, the situation.

My boyfriend and I met online sometime in May. He lives in the States, I live in Canada. I went to visit him for the first time August 2nd. Skip to August 28th, and he came to Canada to stay. So he's legally allowed to stay in Canada for 6 months as a visitor as an American.

Question 1. From my understanding and research, he needs to get a job offer FIRST, then use the job offer to obtain a work visa. Problem is he doesn't qualify as any skilled worker or whatnot, so what jobs exactly can he try and apply for to get a work visa?

Question 2. He wants to live here with me. I've done as much research as possible, and it's all confusing to me. We are unsure of what processes we can do to get him to legally be able to stay and live here with me. Besides getting married, of course, what other easy ways can I get him to live here legally with me?
