The bogota office is quite slow.  Their processing time has almost doubled in the past year.  I don't know the reason for that...  Other than that, my experience with them was good.  I wouldn't have said that a few months ago, but the way things turned out for me improved my opinion of them a lot.

my wife just had her interview there. The young man was very gracious and her interview was only 15 mintues. I was told by a lady last january who works there it would be about 1 year time of processing in Bogota. That is what it took us plus about 6 weeks in canada my aplication to sponsor time. Best of luck.

You can certainly apply. You have no guarantee that it will be approved, but you can give it a go.

You will have to fulfill all the requirements of the category you apply for, as well as convince the officer that you will abide by its conditions and not overstay or otherwise violate your status.

Only the proper authority can decide whether you will be approved or denied.

As some have said, you can try for a visitor's visa, but very sadly, I think very few people can get one from south america. I didn't try for my wife because, I read it may take 3 months , and then just get a letter saying it was denied. I have a friend. His wife is from Panama. Her sister in Panama wanted to come for a visit and was denied. ( This was a few years ago, it may even be harder now). Canada is very worried many people will come and not leave. I am sure that is why people from mexico now need visas to enter Canada. I wish there was a faster way to process visas, but I had to go through all the waiting. Even a lady who works for my M.P. ( la persona en el gobierno de Canada), could not do anything to speed the process. Wish I had better news for you, te cuidas

Hola,,Ojala, mi espanol,,,estoy aprendiendo, pero muy despacio. I went to Colombia twice in 2008, and married Lucy. Very funny, because my spanish is very "mas o menos", and no one in her famly speaks english. 2 really good things. I would think if you already had a vistor visa , you would have a far better chance of getting another one. Also as a doctor, I would think you may be able to come on a work visa of some kind. There are people on here,PMM,Leon,Matamita, and others who can tell you better than be,,mucho exito !
